Judging by the size of some rear ends I see squeezing into spandex shorts at Walmart, I suspect you could probably strech a pair of them over a boat

I think the reason you can't find it in spandex is spandex will allow rainwater to pass, and make it more difficult to dry out. This would lead to mold, mildew, and rot issues for your average boat user.
I have 2 huge Laurel Oaks (that's what the neighbor said they are) that drop leaves all year, and are now starting to drop really, really soft juicy berries everywhere. First thing I have to do before every outing is sweep up the boat. It'll be fun once the berries make it out to the boat! I also have been looking for a cheap, lightweight cover, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with a mesh tarp, like they use on dumptrucks to cover their loads. The mesh is small enough to keep the leaves and berries out, and shouldn't weigh more then a few pounds. May not be dustproof enough for you, though.

I consider myself a google expert as well and the best thing I found was something about a couple guys that made boat covers out of parachutes, and a couple that made them out of sewed together and elastic bound bed sheets. I gave it a honest try, mainly because I also thought that would be a great idea, but to no avail. Well keep my eye out for you, good luck.

Beefer, just be careful with the berries sitting on the mesh and the water slowly passing through. I had a similar situation where the rainwater actually made a "tea" out of the berries and stained my boat horribly. Took a hell of alot of work to wash the stains off the fiberglass.
